Week of September 6th-9th

Hi Families,

I hope everyone had a wonderful long weekend! This week will go by very fast! This week the children will be finishing up their work with Mat Man. At small group they are going to be drawing their own Mat Man and those will be put on display in the classroom. We also have a documentation panel outside of the classroom that shows our entire study of Mat Man. If you are ever in the building make sure you come check the amazing work the children did! We will continue working on sorting, at large group the children will be going on a shape hunt where they will be finding hidden shapes around the classroom and sorting them by shape.

We will also be starting to do some book making. The children will be read a story at small group and then be encouraged to create their own books. These are called Writing Focused Read Aloud. This week we are going to be focusing on putting something (mark, picture, word, letter) on every page of a book. I cannot wait to see what the children will create!

• Please make sure that you have paid your $70 supply fee, this helps us continue to do fun projects and activities during the school year!

• If you would like to volunteer, you MUST complete a background check, which takes between 4-6 weeks to be processed. If you are interested in coming to volunteer at only point this year, this would be a great time to get your background check completed. Background checks are good for 3 years, if you are not sure if you background check is still good, please send me an email and I can check for you
