Happy Monday! This week the children will be learning about Mat Man. Mat Man helps the children learn how to draw a person. It goes through the different parts on the body that someone has. Drawing Mat Man helps children learn the basic way to draw a person as well as making the different writing strokes. The children will be using large wood pieces at large group time to help build Mat Man as a class; there is even a song we sing to help us build him. Then at small group the children will be making their own Mat Man using pre-cut shapes and lines. Then we will be ready to draw our own Mat Man!
This week we will also begin talking about sorting objects. This could be by color, shape, or a specific category. At small group the children will be given a provocation, where different shapes and containers are placed in front of them, then the children are allowed to explore the materials and we get to observe what the children naturally do with the different shapes and containers. This allows for a meaningful discussion and exploration of how things can be sorted and organized.
Last week the children had a wonderful time dancing, singing, and playing along with Mr. Daniel. The children were able to play along with Mr. Daniel at the end of his "concert"!

- Birthday Celebrations
- We love to celebrate birthdays in our classroom, if you wish to bring in a treat to celebrate your child's birthday it must be a non-food treat. Due to the number of food allergies we have in the building we ask that outside food not be brought into the building
- Supply Fee
- Please make sure that you have paid your $70 supply fee, this helps us continue to do fun projects and activities during the school year!

- Order forms will be sent home in your child's backpack, if you would like to order pictures, please send out the forms and return them to school WITH the payment!

- If you would like to volunteer, you MUST complete a background check, which takes between 4-6 weeks to be processed. If you are interested in coming to volunteer at only point this year, this would be a great time to get your background check completed. Background checks are good for 3 years, if you are not sure if you background check is still good, please send me an email and I can check for you
