Message From Speech Therapists

Speech Therapy: September 6-9          Ms. Lorraine                                               Apples and Leaves On the Trees

This week we are focusing on the /t/ sound.  We read a Clifford booklet on counting apples.  They had to help follow along the colored squares to help me read the story.  We also talked about what number comes next when counting.  We sang a finger play song:

1 Little, 2 Little, 3 Little Apples, 4 Little, 5 Little, 6 Little Apples, 7 Little, 8 Little, 9 Little Apples, 10 Apples Just for Me (using their fingers to count and then pretending to eat the apples).

I also worked on function of objects this week: “What do you do with a ____?” An easy way to target this skill at home is an I Spy game; “I spy something you write with, I spy something you bounce etc.”  You could also approach in the reverse order; “I spy a pillow, what do you do with a pillow?  I spy a cup, what do you do with a cup?”

Here are various apple activities you can do/make with your preschoolers.
