Week of September 8-11

This week the children continued their unit on construction. The children learned about the different machines that construction workers use. At large group time they learned how to move their bodies like different machines. In small group they read books about what the different machines do. This week we also focused on who, what, where, and when questions. During large and small group activities those types of questions were posed and answers were modeled and give by peers and teachers.

Picture day was a success! The children did a great job with the difference in our routine. Make up picture dates will be scheduled later, if your child missed picture day or if you would like to retake pictures I will send out that date as soon as it is scheduled!

This coming week the children will be learning about zoo animals. I have noticed that the children have been really interested in making zoos during work time. Many have used the blocks and animals to create different cages for the animals. It has been amazing to see their categorizing skills at work!  We will be doing some really fun movement large group activities such as "We're going on a bear hunt" and zoo animal yoga poses.
