Week of April 25th-29th

Hi Families,

We are in the home stretch of the school year, 5 more weeks left! It's crazy to think that we have been together for almost a whole school year! The children finished up our dinosaur unit last week. Their knowledge of dinosaurs and the different kinds of dinosaurs really surprised and impressed me. They were able to identify different types of dinosaurs (whose names are very tricky to pronounce) as well as different describing factors about them! This week we have the Tooth Fairy help, Sparkle, visiting us today and tomorrow. The children will each receive a tooth brush and flossers from her, so please look out for those in their backpacks. The mystery has some new materials on it that the children will learn about and be able to use this week!

  • Thank you to everyone who came to Spring Fling! It was a big success, I am sorry that I was unable to make it!
  • Kindergarten bound parents, look out for information coming about preschool graduation. The day of graduation with be May 26th in the evening, the specific time and location are TBA
Have a restful Monday and please email me with any questions!

April 18th-22nd

Hi Families,

We are on our last week of the dinosaur unit. The children have learned so much about dinosaurs, it amazing to hear them talk about the different dinosaurs they have learned about as well their different features. The children have been measuring a large T-Rex foot print this week. Tomorrow we are going to find out how many shoes fit inside the dinosaur footprint! At small group the children have been working on drawing and creating their own dinosaurs. We have been focusing on the different shapes that we see, like a circle or oval for a head or a long rectangle for the neck. The children will be doing a journal page describing what they would do if the dinosaurs came back!

Message From Our Speech Therapists

This week during our Large Group I read “I Know A Wee Piggy,” by Kim Norman.  The pig was at the county fair and decided that he needed some color.  So he wallowed in all sorts of things.  At the end he ended up winning a blue ribbon at the art show exhibit.  We talked about setting of the book, vocabulary (wallowed, wee) and the characters in it.  We also talked about what you would see, hear, & smell at a fair.  The students then had a turn after answering a question to add color to the pig.  Talk to your child about things they remember about the story and what turned the pig the different colors.

Have a great week!
Miss Lorraine (SLPA)
