Hi Families,
What a wonderful week we have had! The children did an amazing job transitioning back into school mode after Thanksgiving break. This week had participated in many fun themed activities. At large group the children were able to throw "snow balls" at letters that were scattered across the board. They also read the book, There Was a Cold Lady Who Swallowed Some Snow. At large group the children also learned about what it means to be respectful and how they can use kind words in our classroom. All the children have learned about how to be a superhero/super friend and it has been great to seem them putting on their superhero capes and treat their classmates with kindness. I have noticed that especially at work time the children are working hard on using their words instead of taking or grabbing toys.
At small group the children helped sort 3 different story/book elements. They sorted words, letters, and pictures into 3 separate places. The children also matched cups of hot coco with marshmallows. On the cup was a number and the children had to count out that many marshmallows to match to the cup.
Recently the children have been given a challenge. This week we have been talking about working as a team and what that looks like. On Thursday the children were introduced to warm fuzzies, which the whole class tries to collect through out the day. Warm fuzzies are little puff ball that the whole receives when everyone is working as a team and making above the line choices. The warm fuzzies are added to a jar which has a line taped to it. Once the warm fuzzies reach the line the class receives a special party or celebration. We have been working on collecting warm fuzzies for only 2 days and the children are off to amazing start!
Canned Food Drive:
This month it's the BECC's turn to participate in the canned food drive. Through out the month of the December if you would like to donate any non-perishable items please send them in your child'd backpack and we will send the items over to the Harris Academy.ALPHA who are particpating this month as well. All of the donations will be going to needy families in Brownsburg.
Winter Attire:
With the cold weather officially here, please make sure that you are sending your child in a WARM winter coat along with gloves and a hat, as well as appropriate winter shoes. We go outside everyday and only have so many extra pairs of hats, gloves, and coats. Your child will not go outside if they do not have the proper attire. We want to make sure that everyone is bundled up for outside time.
Backpacks/Folders:
Please be sure to send your child to school with a backpack and folder, we have been sending papers home and want to make sure that you are receiving all the information.
Have a wonderful weekend and please email me with any questions :) Also thank you to the families who purchased books for our classroom!!
-Ms. Rodriguez
