Week of December 7-11

Hi Families,

The children had another spectacular week! Both morning and afternoon classes have been working hard to earn warm fuzzies. It has been great to see the children come together as a team! This week the children went on a gingerbread hunt during large group and helped put the gingerbread men back in ABC order. They also learned a new snowman alphabet song to help them remember to order of the alphabet. At small group the children painted tree's with q-tips and practiced their pre-writing strokes and worked on their fine motor skills. The children also read the book, The Mitten. The children then had the task, they had to figure out what they would place in a giant mitten. These projects will be placed in the children's portfolios at the start of next semester and at the end of the year the children will have a collection of work to bring home with them, so if you do not see as many projects coming home it is because we are sticking some of the children's work in their portfolios.

Spirit Week:
We have one more week until Winter Break, here is the schedule for spirit week!  I sent home a paper schedule a few weeks again, if you would like another copy, please let me know!
Monday-Pajama Day
Tuesday- Candy Cane Day (Dress like a candy cane)
Wednesday-Christmas Sweaters
Thursday-Dress like your favorite winter character (Reindeer, Olaf, Elsa, etc.)
Friday-Deck the Halls (come dressed up in fun Christmas decorations/things from home)

Winter Wear:
This is another gentle reminder to please send your child to school in a winter coat everyday. I know this week had some higher temperatures, but in the morning especially it is still in the low 40's when we go outside. We play outside for 30 minutes and the building only has a few extra winter coats. We will go outside everyday unless it it raining or below 25 degrees. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns about outside time. If your child is not properly dressed they will not be able to play outside.

Canned Food Drive:
Keep sending in non-perishable food items to donate to Gleaner's Food bank!

Have a restful weekend and please email me with any questions :)

-Ms. Rodriguez
