Week of October 31st-November 4th

Hi Families,

Happy Halloween! It's an exciting day here at the preschool, the children came to school excited and full of energy! This week we will be starting a classroom study on spiders. Last week the children did a large group activity where they talked about spider webs and what they do. We talked about what spiders use to make webs and why they make webs. The children then had the opportunity to "test out" a spider web. I created a masking tape web in the door way and the children took turns throwing "bugs" at the web. This activity created a lot of conversation!

This week we will also be continuing working on patterns and pre-writing strokes. The children will be making patterns with pasta at small group and patterns with their bodies at large group. At small group this week the children will also be creating spider webs using paper plates and string as well as painting with plastic spiders.

I cannot wait to see where this spider study takes us!

Week of October 24th-28th

Hi Families,

Welcome back from Fall Break! We are hitting the ground running this quarter. This week and need week we will be focusing on pre-writing/writing and patterns. The children will be creating and copying their own patterns at small group with different materials such as dot paint and natural objects. They will also be working as a group to create a pattern during large group and morning message.

The children are also beginning to work on their pre-writing skills. We added a new morning job to our routine. Instead of  signing in on a group clip board, the children will be tracing and writing their names on individual sheets of paper. At large group we will be making pre-writing strokes and get our whole body up and moving!

Week of October 3rd-7th

Hi Families,

It has been quite a fast nine week, the last week of the quarter is here and I cannot wait to meet with all of you and talk about all the progress and gains your child has made thus far! This week we will be reviewing some of our favorite activities that we have done this first quarter. A popular and most requested activity was playing with shaving cream at small group and Going on a Bear Hunt at large group.

The child had a wonderful time at Pup Strut, thank you to for volunteering and donating. You made it a great experience, even on a rainy morning :)

When we come back from Fall Break we will be jumping into Halloween. Children can wear their costumes to school, but please do not send them to school with mask, weapons, or wands.

For conference please come with any questions, concerns, or information you would like to share about your child. It is a great time for me to tell you what we are seeing at school, but it is also a great time for you to share things you are seeing at home.
